When Blood Calls by J. K. Beck/ review

This is the first in a three part series.  J. K. Beck  aka Julie Kenner has several series already in print.

Sara Constantine is an up and coming lawyer working for the DA.  She witnessed her father's murder when she was 9, and has nightmares every since.  Sara is about to discover that some nightmares are all too real...

Lucius Dragos is a vampire that works for the Covenant, an organization that polices the supernatural.  Lucius is about to be on the wrong side of the law. Lucius is about to become the hunted, to protect his ward, Tasha, he will commit murder, and become the thing that he is responsible for hunting down.

These two are about to clash, in the court room and under the sheets!

Now for the bad part...I felt that this story had promise, if Beck had developed the character's a little more.  I wished that she had kept Sara in the "human" world and cultivated  her relationships more, developed her story line more.  Sara and Luke had no connection,  No real reason to be in love.  Their relationship jumped from a one night stand to love in a heart beat.  No real reasons were given for this jump.  No real meat to the story line.  The world development was believable and the law angle was an original idea.  Each character needed more work and the threads connected better.  I would not recommend this series, and will not finish this series.  I give it 2 out of 5 stars!
