Are you curious about how the grand prize giveaway will work?

  • Step 1: On August 1st, if you look to the right, I will have posted a picture link that will direct you to TWO polls on my sidebar, meaning you should go and vote!
  • Step 2: Spread the word!  Try to sway people and convince them to vote for your choices!  The heroes and heroines you voted for in the form you submitted will be battling for dominance until August 18th
  • Step 3: On August 19th, I will post a third and final poll that will last until August 31st.  This will contain a second face-off between the top 3 heroes and the top 3 heroines.
  • Step 4: Spread the word.  You will receive 5 entries per character that you chose (on the form) who made it into the final 6.

If you correctly vote for which character gets:

1st place, you will gain 30 additional entries
2nd place, you will gain 25 additional entries
3rd place, you will gain 20 additional entries
4th place, you will gain 15 additional entries
5th place, you will gain 10 additional entries

Initially, that would have meant you wouldn't earn any entries into this grand prize giveaway.  But then when I thought about it, I felt a bit bad.  So I've added one extra option (and this is also for the people who may have missed out on completing the form I've been blabbering about recently).
  • For Bloggers:  Make a blog post about The Battle of the Sexies, and try to convince people to vote for your picks in the polls.  Be sure to link back to this post.  If you do a blog post, please provide a link to it by commenting ON THIS POST.

Making a blog post about this will earn 10 entries into the grand prize giveaway.
  • For Everyone:  Leave a meaningful comment on the blogs that post about this event (links will be included at the bottom of this post).

Commenting will earn you one entry per blog.

Please refer to my CONTEST POLICY and the BOTS GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAY posts for further details about general giveaway guidelines, and about US, Canadian, and International participants.

When Blood Calls by J. K. Beck/ review

This is the first in a three part series.  J. K. Beck  aka Julie Kenner has several series already in print.

Sara Constantine is an up and coming lawyer working for the DA.  She witnessed her father's murder when she was 9, and has nightmares every since.  Sara is about to discover that some nightmares are all too real...

Lucius Dragos is a vampire that works for the Covenant, an organization that polices the supernatural.  Lucius is about to be on the wrong side of the law. Lucius is about to become the hunted, to protect his ward, Tasha, he will commit murder, and become the thing that he is responsible for hunting down.

These two are about to clash, in the court room and under the sheets!

Now for the bad part...I felt that this story had promise, if Beck had developed the character's a little more.  I wished that she had kept Sara in the "human" world and cultivated  her relationships more, developed her story line more.  Sara and Luke had no connection,  No real reason to be in love.  Their relationship jumped from a one night stand to love in a heart beat.  No real reasons were given for this jump.  No real meat to the story line.  The world development was believable and the law angle was an original idea.  Each character needed more work and the threads connected better.  I would not recommend this series, and will not finish this series.  I give it 2 out of 5 stars!
